Drop the Rock

Public·9 members

Tonight, we came together as a group to revisit Drop the Rock for the second time. We focused on the importance of Steps 6 and 7, realizing that our commitment to recovery helps us break free from old, unproductive, and negative behavior patterns that no longer serve us. We gained a deeper understanding of why the steps are ordered the way they are—they need to be worked in unison. By doing so, we avoid the trap of knowing just enough about the program to feel stuck and miserable, but not enough to find true happiness. If we fail to address these negative patterns, they can harm not only ourselves but those around us as well.

In recovery, we aim to transform our character defects and shortcomings into guiding principles. We work to turn fear into faith, hate into love, egoism into humility, anxiety and worry into serenity, complacency into action, denial into acceptance, jealousy into trust, fantasy into reality, selfishness into service, resentment into forgiveness, judgment into tolerance, despair into hope, self-hate into self-respect, and loneliness into fellowship. Through this process, we deepen our understanding of the principles that form the foundation of our recovery. Next week we will pick up on page 2, hope to see you there!

How does the process of surrendering these defects connect to your personal growth journey?
