THINKING OF OTHERS

Updated: Aug 23, 2023

"No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others." Alcoholics Anonymous

One of the best ways to get out of yourself is to reach out to another who is suffering. Thinking of how others are doing and letting them you are thinking of them can open a dialogue which helps you stay clean and sober. You may not even realize how much you have to offer. Even if it is just the fact that you reached out allowing another to open us and let go of a few things. Listening is wonderful and steering someone into the solution via literature is amazing for getting yourself into a better place too.

Why? If you are steering someone into the literature you have to get into it yourself. Finding the right passages and most helpful resources, ones you have used, reinforces your experience, strength, and hope as well as reaffirms how the tools of recovery are working for you.

This season can be difficult for many. There are endless people who need help even if only in prayer. So what are you waiting for?

  • Pick up the phone and reach out to someone else in need of an ear.

  • Make a long prayer list and hit your knees praying for all those on your list.

  • Volunteer.

  • Don't forget to think about those closest to you.

  • Get involved in other ways, be an advocate of addiction recovery:

  • Facing Addiction

  • Faces & Voices of Recovery

  • City of Angels NJ
